Singling out and denying a group to marry based upon their sexual orientation is discrimination and subsequently, creates a second class of citizens. In that sense, same-sex marriage is a social equalizer. Same-sex marriages increase the chances of leading to other unaccepted marriages and non-traditional marriages such as incest, polygamy, and bestiality. Aside from this, this is also the reason why the law generally allows prisoners to wed even when it is unlikely for them to be released. Legalizing same-sex marriage promotes and advances the homosexual agenda, with children being targeted. This also includes signing documents together as a couple and open joint accounts and purchase properties together. Moreover, a gay partner will be able to take refuge in the law when abused physically or financially, or when abandoned without formal divorce. Thus, proposals to legalize multiple-partner marriage should be considered separately from legislations with regards to single-partner marriage. The number of child adoptions should increase since gay couples cannot pro-create although some might see an increase in gay adoptions as an argument against same-sex marriages. The idea of same-sex marriage has been one of hot debate historically…often being met with strong opposition in the United States. However, other nations are considerably remaining orthodox, where they dispose the idea of same-sex relationships, not to mention not allowing gay couples to marry. Before, same-sex couples could not enjoy any of these, since they were not even recognized as such by a country or state. Virginia confirmed that marriage is "one of the basic civil rights of man," and same-sex marriages should receive the same protections given to interracial marriages by that ruling. Some of the countries that have legalized same-sex marriage are the Netherlands, Argentina, France, Spain, the United Kingdom, Brazil and just years ago, the United States. Basically, marriage is the union of two individuals who decide to spend their lives together willingly. This might pose a huge problem, considering that a baby needs milk, which means the need for a lactating mother. Gay and lesbian families are entitled to limited laws and can only protect themselves in limited ways.
